Penn State Lehigh Valley celebrated undergraduate excellence at the campus’ annual Student Awards Ceremony on Tuesday, April 26. A large crowd of students, faculty members, staff and family members turned out for one of the marquee events of the academic year.
Penn State Lehigh Valley Student Government Association President Matt Cascioli’s dedication to the campus was recently recognized by the University-wide Council of Commonwealth Student Governments with the Dwayne A. Hilton Illumination Award, given to a campus SGA president who goes above and beyond expectations in their role as an advocate for their campus.
After serving as a full-time lecturer at Penn State Berks for the past six years, Debra Dreisbach was recently hired to be the program coordinator for Penn State Lehigh Valley's new Criminal Justice program. Prior to her career in academia, Dreisbach spent 25 years in federal law enforcement, serving as a special agent with the Office of Inspector General, FBI and Secret Service.
Internationally recognized scholar Marijana Grbeša Zenzerović of the University of Zagreb in Croatia recently returned to Penn State Lehigh Valley to deliver the lecture "Communication in Times of Crisis: A Critical Take on the Pandemic and War in Ukraine." Grbeša Zenzerović served as the campus’ first visiting scholar and professor during the fall 2018 semester.
Eight Advisory Board members from Lehigh Valley LaunchBox powered by Penn State have created a $145,000 endowment to sustain the business accelerator's long-term efforts. The board members contributed $72,500 to the fund, which was matched by Penn State.
The annual Penn State Lehigh Valley Student Art Exhibition kicked off earlier this month and will remain on display in the campus’ Ronald K. De Long and Community galleries through May 7. The campus celebrated the exhibit Tuesday, April 12, with an Artist Reception.
Penn State's sexual misconduct climate survey will close on April 22. The survey was sent to a random sample of students at all Penn State campuses; students can check their Penn State email for a link to complete the survey. The University-wide survey is designed to assess issues of sexual assault, misconduct and harassment.
Penn State Lehigh Valley once again demonstrated its deep commitment to student scholarship at the campus' annual Undergraduate Research Symposium, held April 4-8.
Eileen Grodziak, instructional designer and adjunct lecturer at Penn State Lehigh Valley, is always looking for unique ways to engage students in her First-Year Experience courses. During the fall 2020 semester, Grodziak and students collaborated with the Schreyer Institute for Teaching Excellence on a research article on first-year student engagement during COVID-19.
Furthering its commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion, Penn State Lehigh Valley hosted a Women of Color Panel on Wednesday, March 30. Sponsored by the Office of Student Affairs, the Black Student Union and the All In Committee, the panel discussion was held as part of the campus’s observance of Women’s History Month.
